This sewing pattern for baby summer shorts, with a range of sizes to fit babies from 0-24 months, will produce a practical summer wardrobe staple for your little one.
Comfort and practicality are my top priorities when creating clothing for babies. In order to simplify this kids garment, I’ve eliminated unnecessary elements such as working pockets or a zipper fly (the bub won’t miss them!) and have instead replaced these elements with faux versions for a fashionable appearance.
The finished product features an elastic waistband that’s a breeze for caregivers to slide over tiny tushies. There’s also extra space in the leg to fit comfortably over nappies/diapers, allowing for unrestricted movement. With reinforced seams, these baby shorts are built to withstand days of energetic adventures whether it’s crawling, playing, or exploring.
This is an excellent scrap buster project – it allows you to transform leftover pieces of your favorite fabrics into trendy and comfortable shorts that little one will adore. I made the example version in the photos by upcycling a charity shop mens button up shirt!
